I have decided that there is no better way to end a juice cleanse than with chocolate bars. It should never be done any other way, ever. I repeat…ever. Especially, when the chocolate you are dealing with is Raaka. Raaka is a company out of Brooklyn. They make small batches of “bean-to-bar” UNROASTED, VEGAN chocolate. This is some very special, high quality, made-with-love chocolate. And to me that is the only kind of chocolate that should exist. It is made with such specific care to the cacao beans, that each batch is going to taste slightly different (kind of like a fine wine.) Yeah. They care that much. I love it.
So obviously I’m in love with this company. Can you blame me? Just look at the packaging! It doesn’t get much better than this…
Raaka has some delicious and super unique flavors! These were some of my favorites…
Most of the bars are lightly sweetened with organic cane sugar or maple syrup. And I am playing around with how I feel about having sugar in my diet. But for this moment here are my thoughts… Try things. Test your limits. Because you can always go back, but you will never know if forward is an option unless your try. So here I am… trying small bites of chocolate with sugar, because why not? In the past eating sugar has triggered compulsive eating in me, but for now I am fine and enjoying myself!
HOWEVER, one of the bars is PERFECT for me. It is sweetened with yacon root only. Yacon is a sweet vegetable (so there is no sugar added at all!) And the bar itself is so rich in nutrients, that it is essentially a probiotic! So OBVIOUSLY I ate it on top of my oatmeal for a delicious post-workout breakfast.
(If you are wondering… I just cooked gluten-free oats with unsweetened almond milk, added some almond butter, and topped it with some Yacon Chocolate.) BOOM. A purrfect post-workout meal.
So if I have convinced you to step up your chocolate game, you can find Raaka at a few locations around SoCal (and the US), but the easiest way to do it is to join their “First Nibs” program. That way you get all of the VIP chocolate mailed to your door each month. Every month is a new delicious adventure! SOOOOO cool. So try it (I promise you will like it.)
