WHAT IS IT?
A sweetener made from the agave plant. (AKA. The same plant tequila is made from.) It is even sweeter than refined sugar, so you need less of it.
WHAT MAKES IT HEALTH-IER?
It is a 30 on the glycemic index, much lower than table sugar – which scores a 65. However, a lot of studies show that it might not be much better for you than sugar, so use with moderation.
HOW DO I USE IT?
Use a small amount of it in place of sugar or honey. I especially like to use agave instead of simple syrup in cocktails or mocktails!
